Sampah jujur at the sustainable solutions fair!
Sampah Jujur was included in the very high profile list of companies and individuals looking to make a difference in terms of how we can be sustainable in todays shared market economy. Our goal was education and outreach and we ended up learning about amazing initiatives and sharing our goals with so many other inspiring people! More info on the day here.
We brought the shredder and started a demo of how to shred a plastic bottle, and pretty soon we had a huge crowd of kids around the machine who wanted to see what was going on. The machine generates a lot of noise and once the bottle gets crushed people start to ooh and awe, meaning 100% of their attention is focused on the machine, which is our goal. Unfortunately, being busy with the shredder, the documentation of the event was not captured by Sampah Jujur, but it is somewhere else on the internet so hopefully a photo pops up soon!
Some great organizations like ecoBali and Peduli Alam were also there and had some amazing products for sale, all made from trash! EcoBali has started making roofing tiles out of recycled tetra paks and Peduli Alam, which means "Protect Nature", is making bags and wallets out of mylar backed wrappers. Two beautiful organizations making beautiful objects in sustainable ways.
Overall it was an incredibly impactful day, especially for the students, who were able to mingle with the vendors in between classes and show off their own projects, like the biodiesel motorbike! Cant wait to see what Green Stone projects come out this year!
